Events for school students and the general public
16 – 18 May 2010, Messe Essen, Congress Center East and South
The World Hydrogen Energy Conference 2010 will also open its doors to non-scientists as part of its events for school students and the general public. The events will take place over the course of three days during which participants will have an opportunity to learn about the potential of hydrogen as an energy carrier and about fuel cells as a highly efficient energy conversion technology. Informative educational programmes have been designed specifically for the following groups:

Experts in the field will provide participants with an overview of the topics as well as comprehensive information on the state of the art of innovative hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Participants will learn what applications research and development are currently focusing on, what results are expected, and what challenges must still be overcome. Moreover, technological innovations associated with a future hydrogen infrastructure and a multitude of fuel cell applications will be presented against the background of the current discussion on climate change, the security of our energy supply and maintaining competitiveness.
In addition to this, WHEC2010 is offering more still. A guided tour of the exhibition aims to put school students and the general public in a position where they will be able to take an authentic look into the technological future with hydrogen and fuel cells. A range of transport services run on hydrogen and fuel cells – buses, cars and special vehicles – will provide participants with a taste of the future.

Die Welt-Wasserstoffenergie-Konferenz 2010 bietet auch interessierten Nichtwissenschaftlern die Möglichkeit, sich im Rahmen der begleitenden Schüler-, Studenten und Bürgertage einen Überblick über die Potenziale von Wasserstoff als Energieträger und Brennstoffzellen als hocheffektive Energieumwandlungstechnik zu verschaffen. Zielgruppenorientierte Programme sind auf die Information und Weiterbildung von

Fachkundige Experten geben zur thematischen Einordnung einen Überblick und vermitteln ein umfassendes Verständnis über den Stand innovativer Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellentechnologien. Teilnehmer erfahren, auf welche Anwendungen die derzeitigen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten ausgerichtet sind, welche Ergebnisse erwartet werden und welche Herausforderungen es noch zu überwinden gilt. Darüber hinaus werden die technologischen Innovationen einer zukünftigen Wasserstoffinfrastruktur und vielfältiger Brennstoffzellenanwendungen in einen Zusammenhang zur aktuellen Diskussion um Klimawandel, Energie- und Wettbewerbssicherung gestellt.
Damit sind die Möglichkeiten der WHEC2010 noch lange nicht erschöpft. Ein betreuter Besuch der Ausstellung versetzt die Besucher der Schüler- und Bürgertage in die Lage, einen authentischen Blick in die technologische Zukunft mit Wasserstoff und Brennstoffzellen zu wagen. Durch zahlreiche Fahr- und Mitfahrangebote mit Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellen-getriebenen Bussen, PKW und Spezialfahrzeugen wird die Zukunft vorweggenommen und für alle Teilnehmer erlebbar gemacht.
