Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik Duisburg

Fuel Cell Research Centre Duisburg

The fuel cell research centre Zentrum für BrennstoffzellenTechnik GmbH, in short ZBT, founded at the end of 2001 as a cooperating institute affiliated to the University of Duisburg-Essen, is able to meet the requirements of increased industry technology demand in the field of fuel cells and their system engineering.

Sponsored by funds of the Region of North Rhine-Westphalia and of the European Union, ZBT builds a bridge between the university fundamental research and the requirements of the industry in terms of applied research for potential applications. ZBT contributes to strengthening the local industry and positioning of the region within the international competition. For many years Duisburg has been one of the most important German centres for the development of this trend-setting technology.

Streamlined infrastructure with regard to office and seminar areas and to the unique and flexible laboratory are available in the building of ZBT, which was established in October 2003. Efficient research and development work is ensured by high-tech equipment in terms of measuring and analysis technology. This infrastructure has been extended by a new technical centre opened in 2008.
