On the first day of the conference we shall all meet up for a reception and initial get-together in the magnificent trade fair and congress centre in Essen, the eighth largest city in Germany. 40% of the EU population lives within a catchment area of 500 km from Essen, and generates around 60% of the income in the European Union. Here you will have the opportunity of meeting old acquaintances and making new friends. The “Messe Essen”, as it is known, is one of the largest commercial exhibition centres in Germany and covers an area of 110,000 square metres: its approximately 50 annual events play host to 1,500,000 visitors a year from no less than 146 nations. During the reception our staff will be on hand to provide you with more details on the week’s programme of events.
